The note of the race was given by Rodriguez and Siffert who fought hard since the beginning of the race, even having contact at Eau Rouge in the first lap.
This episode usually is put like example nowadays of the rough rivalry that both of the Wyer-Gulf Team drivers were known to have.

(More details on the rivalry between Rodriguez and Siffert can be seen in the "MISCELANEAS" Section, in spanish)

71 laps at an average speed of 149.415 mph (240.41 km/h) including rain and pit stops was Jo Siffert and Brian Redman’s record.

Pedro Rodriguez classified at 157,862 mph (254,16 km/h) and made its fastest lap at 160,513 mph (258.43 km/h), 14 seconds faster that the record established in Spa in F1 and 3 seconds faster than the pole position time. Rodriguez-Kinnunen abandoned with a broken gearbox.
