Dice Luc Ghys:
Estuve en Zolder, el último domingo (22 de Junio de 2003) en donde se celebraba
el 40 aniversario del circuito. Hubo una cantidad de invitados, la mayoría
pilotos del pasado. De manera que -como es lógico- estuvo Jacky Ickx. El dió
varias vueltas al circuito con un pequeño BMW 700 (su primer auto de carreras),
provisto por la fábrica BMW. Jacky es realmente un caballero y todos en nuestro
país (Bélgica), estamos muy orgullosos de él.
Como pueden ver en las dos fotos siguientes, el ha firmado mi camisa alusiva al
GT40. En la espalda tiene un hermoso dibujo con los tres GT40 ganadores en Le
Mans en 1966, 1968 y 1969.

I was at Zolder last Sunday where they celebrated the 40th anniversary of
the circuit. There were a lot of invitees, mostly drivers from the past. So
Jacky Ickx had to be there of course. He did several laps in a small BMW 700 (his
first real "racing car") provided by the BMW factory. He's a real
gentleman and someone our country is very proud of.
As you can see, he signed my GT40 T-shirt. There's a nice drawing on the back
with the 3 Le Mans winning GT40's of 1966, 1968 & 1969.

Uno de mis sueños se hizo realidad ayer (25 de Abril de 2003) cuando me
encontré con Ermanno Cuoghi en Zolder. Ermanno fue el Jefe de Mecánicos del
equipo John Wyer durante 1970 y 1971 y además una gran persona. Yo estimo mucho
a este hombre y en nuestro encuentro, hasta hemos derramado algunas lágrimas
mientras hablábamos sobre Pedro Rodríguez. Ermanno cumplirá los 68 años el
próximo mes y actualmente se desempeña como Director Técnico del Adrián
Campos Motorsport (Nissan World Series).
El firmó mi libro "Racing Mechanic" de su autoría y yo por mi parte,
le regalé una pintura realizada por mi hermano Carlos. El se puso muy contento,
casi diría que feliz como un niño, y nos dimos un fuerte abrazo cuando
abandonamos el circuito. Sin dudas, otro día inolvidable para mí... él es una
verdadera parte de la leyenda del 917.

One of my dreams camr true yesterday as I met Ermanno Cuoghi in Zolder. He
was Pedro Rodriguez' chief mechanic at John Wyer in 1970-1971 and what a great
person he is. I just love the man and we even shared a tear or two bringing up
some Rodriguez' memories. He will be 68 next month and is Technical Director at
Adrian Campos Motorsport team (Nissan World Series). He signed the Cuoghi book I
have (Racing Mechanic) and I gave him a print of my brother's painting. He was
so delighted, happy as a child and we hugged eachother when I left the circuit.
Yet another unforgettable day for me.......He's a true part of the 917 legend.

En oportunidad de desarrollarse la Essen Techno Classica Fair el 13 de Abril de
2003, he comprado algunas fotos de Austria 1970 al foógrafo austríaco Franz
Hruby, quien sacó todas ellas. El es poseedor de aproximadamente 23.000
negativos y los venderá a la brevedad pues se considera así mismo como
"demasiado viejo". Compré tambien una cierta cantidad de fotos de la
edición 1971, las cuales iré enviando mas tarde.

In the Essen Techno Classica Fair (April 13th 2003) I bought some
pics from an Austrian photographer Franz Hruby who took all of these pictures.
He has about 23.000 negatives and will sell them shortly as he considers himself
too old. I bought a lot of pictures from the 1971 edition too but will send them
later.
